Position: HPN Installer (Residential Field Technician)

Location: Regional – 75% Travel
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract

Job Description

We are seeking motivated, trustworthy, and professional installers to join our growing team. As an HPN Installer, you will be responsible for the delivery, setup, and configuration of HPN Defender and Advanced firewall/router units in customers’ homes. You’ll be the face of HPN—ensuring a seamless, secure installation experience and educating families on how to use their new system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and install HPN firewall/router units at residential locations.
  • Configure network settings, Wi-Fi, and security policies per HPN standards.
  • Perform initial testing to verify throughput, protection, and device connectivity.
  • Educate homeowners on system basics, parental controls, and usage.
  • Maintain professionalism and represent the HPN mission during all customer interactions.
  • Document installation details, network settings, and customer sign-off.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, bonding, and insurance guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in IT support, network installation, or home technology services.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi configuration.
  • Ability to install and configure Ethernet cabling and related hardware.
  • Experience with consumer and small business networking equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer-facing professionalism.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass background check and be bondable.

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+
  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent
  • HPN Installer Certification (training provided)

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with OPNsense, pfSense, or similar firewall platforms.
  • Familiarity with IoT devices, smart home systems, and home automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Wi-Fi interference, VLANs, and multi-AP deployments.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for consumers.
  • Prior work in residential service industries (HVAC, cable, security systems).
